Tess McCaffrey is a therapeutically qualified optometrist, with a special interest in myopia, myopia control and advanced contact lens fitting, including orthokeratology (Ortho-K). Tess holds a Bachelor of Optometry (Hons) from The University of Auckland as well as a Bachelor of Science from Otago University majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Psychology.

Daehyun Jin (DJ) is a therapeutically qualified optometrist, compassionate, dedicated and renowned for his commitment to provide exceptional eye care. He completed his Bachelor’s degree with Hons, at the University of Auckland and is fluent in both English and Korean.

Dr Akilesh Gokul (Aki) is a therapeutically qualified Optometrist, specialising in keratoconus. Aki holds a Bachelor of Optometry (First Class Honours) from The University of Auckland. Throughout his undergraduate study, Aki was intrigued by the multitude of ways in which a person’s vision can be affected by the wide range of eye conditions and the fact that while the ability to treat many of these conditions had progressed immensely, there were still many shortcomings.

Melody Ong is a therapeutically qualified optometrist, she completed her Bachelor’s degree with Hons, at the University of Auckland. Melody is fluent in English, Mandarin and understands Hokkien and Cantonese. During her final year, Melody undertook an honours research project on the psychological connection between Colour and Mood. This research study won Melody second place in the New Zealand College of Optometrists Awards as well as a Research Scholarship.

EMILIE LAWSON

Emilie Lawson holds a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from the University of Otago, majoring in Functional Human Biology. The neurophysiology Emilie was exposed to during her Biomedical degree, along with her passion for helping people, were driving forces to go on to study Optometry. She completed a Bachelor of Optometry with First Class Honours from The University of Auckland and tailored her Optometry studies around her particular interest in myopia progression and Ortho-K (Orthokeratology).

Alba Mlika, a First Class Honours Optometrist from the University of Auckland, fluent in English, Italian, and Albanian. Passionate about eye health, keratoconus management, and the arts, she combines clinical expertise with a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

Wendy Hill formed an interest in eyecare at an early age. Wendy began wearing glasses at 9 years old. Wendy’s interest was further piqued several years later when her younger sister was diagnosed with a rare and sight-threatening eye condition. A timely diagnosis and appropriate referral to an eye surgeon saved her vision.

Rachel Ng-Waishing is a therapeutic optometrist who graduated from the University of Auckland Bachelor of Optometry and Vision Science program with honours in 2015. Rachel’s interest in optometry developed early in life. As a child, she struggled to see the board in the class which lead to an eye examination to the local optometrist, where it was detected that she was myopic (short-sighted), just like her parents. This experience sparked her passion for optometry.

GRANT WATTERS IS AN OPTOMETRIST AND CONTACT LENS SPECIALIST.

Grant Watters conducts general optometric services such as eye examinations, visual screening and children’s vision (paediatrics), but also, Grant specialises in Keratoconus, OrthoK (Orthokeratology), complex contact lens fitting and management and contact lens troubleshooting; with patients often referred to Grant by Optometrist and Ophthalmologist colleagues.
